Subregional Stakeholder Conferences

Subregional Conferences

What direction should research and education on sustainable agriculture take in the next 20 years?

As the SARE program marked 20 years of funding grants to agricultural producers and professionals, Western SARE convened seven conferences in subregions of the large region to seek guidance from constituents on priorities for the next 20 years.

Review and download dozens of handouts and posters from seven listening sessions held around the Western Region. Please note that all documents will open as a PDF.

Reach_Out,_Listen,_Respond

Reach Out, Listen, Respond  is Western SARE's comprehensive reporting of the process and outcomes of seven subregional conferences. This report details where the conferences were held, who attended, how the conferences were structured in a way to ensure stakeholder engagement, the research and education priorities that emerged from each subregion and the projects funded after each subregional conference. What truly tells the story is the section with participant testimonials and post-conference interviews.

AC Sets Priorities

In March 2011, the Western Administrative Council (AC) and staff met for 1.5 days of strategic planning and priority-setting; ending the session with five new initiatives for the program to undertake over the next few years. The AC drew from the long list of potential changes to grants programs and new tasks provided by the 700+ participants in seven Subregional Conferences. Read about the top priorities.
